About this free PDF watermark tool
A watermark tells the reader the document's status at a glance — DRAFT on a proposal, CONFIDENTIAL on an internal memo, SAMPLE on a portfolio piece. This tool draws your text diagonally across the center of every page in a light gray tone, at the opacity you choose, so it reads clearly without burying the content underneath. It works on text PDFs and scanned pages alike, because the stamp is drawn on top of whatever the page shows.
An honest caveat: this is a visual stamp, not copy protection — anyone with a PDF editor can cover or remove it, and it won't stop screenshots. For casual sharing and clear labeling it's exactly right; for legal-grade protection you'd want proper document security. As always, everything runs in your browser: no uploads, no watermark on top of your watermark, no account.
Frequently asked questions
Can the watermark be removed later?
Yes, with a PDF editor — it's drawn text on the page, not encryption. Treat it as a visible label (DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL), not as security.
Will it hide my document's text?
No. The default 15% opacity is deliberately light, and you can slide it from 5% (barely-there) to 40% (bold). The content underneath stays fully readable.
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
Yes. The watermark is drawn on top of each page, so it stamps scanned pages just as well as text-based ones.
