PAN Card Photo Resizer — Free 213×213 px Photo for PAN Application

Resize your PAN card photo to exactly 213×213 px under 30KB, or your PAN signature to 400×200 px under 60KB — the exact specs the Protean (NSDL) and UTIITSL portals accept. One click, batch-friendly, and your ID photo never leaves your browser.

Drag & drop your photo here

or click to browse — JPG, PNG, WebP. Add as many as you like. Files stay on your device.

Files never leave your device

How this works: photos are centre-cropped to the exact required pixels (signatures are fit on a white background so no stroke gets cut), then JPEG quality is tuned until the file lands under your target KB. Dimensions stay exactly as the portal demands.

How to resize a photo for a PAN card application

  1. Drop your photo into the box above (a recent colour photo with a plain background works best).
  2. Keep the PAN Photo mode — 213×213 px, 30KB — or switch to signature mode if you are fixing your signature.
  3. Click Resize for PAN and download the portal-ready JPEG.

Why PAN applications reject photos

Most rejections come down to two numbers. A phone-camera photo is usually 1–5 MB — the portal wants it under 30KB — and it is thousands of pixels wide, while the portal wants exactly 213 × 213 pixels for the photo and 400 × 200 pixels for the signature (JPEG only). Shrinking the photo in a gallery app only fixes the pixels, not the kilobytes; compressing it in a generic tool only fixes the kilobytes, not the pixels. This resizer does both in one pass: it crops to the exact pixel dimensions the Protean (NSDL) and UTIITSL portals specify, then binary-searches JPEG quality until the file fits under your target size. The result passes both checks — dimensions and file size — which is what the upload form actually validates. Signatures are handled differently on purpose: instead of cropping, your full signature is fitted onto the 400 × 200 canvas over a white background, so no stroke is cut off at the edges. Like every PDFPax tool, everything runs on your device with the Canvas API: no upload, no queue, no account, no watermark. That matters doubly for ID photos — your face and signature never travel over the network.

Frequently asked questions

What is the correct PAN card photo size?

For online applications: 213 × 213 pixels, under 30KB, JPEG — on both the Protean (NSDL) and UTIITSL portals. Signatures: under 20KB (Protean) or 400 × 200 pixels under 60KB (UTIITSL). The presets above match these specs.

Why was my PAN photo rejected?

Almost always file size or dimensions. Phone photos are megabytes and thousands of pixels wide; the portal wants ≤30KB and exactly 213 × 213 px. Upload your photo here with the PAN Photo mode and the output clears both checks.

Do I need to set 300 DPI on my PAN photo?

No. The portals validate pixel dimensions and file size, not DPI metadata. This tool outputs exactly 213 × 213 pixels under 30KB as JPEG — which is what the upload forms actually check.

Will cropping cut off my face?

The tool centre-crops to a square, which keeps the face for a normal headshot. For best results use a photo where your face fills the middle of the frame. Signatures are never cropped — they are fitted whole onto the canvas.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. All processing happens locally in your browser. Your ID photo and signature never leave your device.
